Hotel Management is merely a stepping-stone to my career. I have always been a very ambitious person; the problem with ambition is you need to have a vision in order for it to drive you rather than cause you to panic. As soon as I realized the next step in my career plan, everything became clear. Our generation is expected to have multiple careers, that is extremely comforting because there is a lot I would like to do with my life. From the age of fourteen, having my first job at Baskin Robbins, I fell in love with customer service. I realized that it is much more than just a worker supplying the customer with a product or service, it’s about creating an experience that will be memorable and satisfying. My love for customer service and my love for people inspired me to work in the hospitality industry. While many people are great customer service workers, my attitude and personality is a unique approach that I know will be incredibly beneficial for my future; I know how to make customers feel comfortable, welcomed and most of all I am able to create a familiar dynamic feeling as if we were old friends. This is why working in a resort, especially Club Med, where the environment is beautiful and everyone’s goal is to have fun and make memories, is the next step in my professional career. At Club Med, due to my experience with working with children, I would start as an animator for the kids clubs and work my way up to become either a P.R. Agent, a Room Division Manager, or an Animation Team Leader. I have many interests in relation to the hospitality industry and am excited to begin my career to further understand my capabilities and find out which position is best suited for me. While working in a resort is most definitely the next step in my career plan, it will most likely not be my only career. I cannot predict the future, but eventually as a grown adult I would like to go back to school to study to become a social worker. While the service industry appeals to me, social work appeals to me as well, for different reasons of course. I would like to make a difference in this world, I would like to help people in creating wonderful memories and I would also like to help people to move on from the bad ones. Which is why the hospitality industry and social work is the balancing combination of career paths that I most see myself fulfilling in order to make the largest difference that I, as one human being, can make.
